After the horrible shooting incident which occurred on Sunday in Las Vegas, numerous questions regarding our country’s gun control dilemma started popping up.
As our sources informed us, during an interview with Fox News on Tuesday House Majority Whip Steve Scalise shared his thoughts on gun control during an interview with Fox News. As you all know, Congressman Scalise has recently recovered after being shot during a GOP baseball practice back in June.
According to him his near-death experience did not influence his stance on gun control. If anything, it only strengthened his views against it. During the interview, Fox News’ Martha MacCallum asked Scalise if the recent Las Vegas shooting made him rethink his thoughts on gun control.
“I think it’s fortified it,” he responded. Scalise followed up by saying that right now, all of our focus should be on the victims of the infamous shooting and helping the victims’ families. Not on policy changes.
“First of all, you’ve got to recognize that when there’s a tragedy like this, the first thing we should be thinking about is praying for the people who were injured and doing whatever we can to help them, to help law enforcement,” said the Republican congressman. “We shouldn’t first be thinking of promoting our political agenda,” he added.
Now, returning after being nearly killed himself, Representative Scalise has a point. We should not waste our time fighting whether a gun police should change or not. We should all send our prayers to the victims of the Sunday shooting, and do everything in our power to prevent another incident like that from occurring. That should be our main priority at a time like this. The American people do not deserve to live in fear.
