NFL Coach Responds to Vet Who Stood For Anthem

Earlier this Sunday, multiple NFL players joined together in order to protest against President Trump and our military. Unfortunately, situations like this one have become very common over the last couple of months.

As most of you already heard, the entire Pittsburgh Steelers NFL team recently showed their true colors and their anti-patriot spirit by choosing to stay in their locker room while the National Anthem was being played. Every player but one chose to boycott the National Antherm, and that is Alejandro Villanueva. His behavior was completely expected, after all, he is an Army veteran.

Unlike his cowardly team mates, Villanueva proudly stood in the tunnel holding his right hand over his heart, and his helmet in his left, while the anthem played.

In case you don’t know, Villanueva is a former member of the U.S. Army Rangers who also served in Afghanistan. He is a true patriot. No wonder he has such respect for our country’s anthem.

Here is what shocked me the most. Mike Tomlin, coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, was not mad with how his players acted. In fact, he was angry at the U.S. veteran who according to him was “disrespecting his team”.

During a press conference after the game,Tomlin said that he wanted a “100 percent participation” in whatever the team’s decision was regarding the National Anthem.

“Like I said, I was looking for 100 percent participation, we were gonna be respectful of our football team,” he told the reporters.

I completely disagree with Tomlin. If anything, we should applaud Villanueva for his patriotic stance. Dissrespecting our nation’s greatest values is not how a NFL player should behave. To top it all of, you’re playing for an American team! America needs more players like Villanueva.
